We had a fun day at the lake celebrating Kyra's 3rd birthday and Emmett's 2nd Birthday! So much fun!

This tube is awesome. Emmett loved riding on the tube and we were going pretty fast and hit some good bumps. He didn't want to stop and was laughing and smiling the entire time. I was more nervous than he was. Crazy kid.
Emmett got some cool new toys.

I can't believe I haven't updated our blog in an entire year! So much has happened. Matt has graduated from Sac State with his BA in Geography. Emmett is growing and learning like crazy and keeps us running and laughing. Our sweet Chloe was born and is changing so quickly. My awesome brother Jared returned from his mission. And we tried to pack in some vacations and fun before I had to go back to work. I had to make several posts because I had a lot of catching up to do.

Chloe made her entrance into this world fast and two weeks early. She was a petite and healthy little girl!

We had a blast going to Newport Beach with the entire Johnson, Nasman, and Wooden clan. We had fun at the beach, the tide pools, and enjoying the resort. Such a wonderful family.

So . . . we were brave enough to travel with four children under the age of 2 and 4 adults. We had all the babies lined up in the middle row, with Meg, Emmett and Jess in the very back. The car was packed, but I would have to say that it all went pretty well. Emmett got a little crazy =)

Emmett played so hard on vacation, he just passed out with Matt. He never does that.

Mendocino, CA. We took a trip to Fort Bragg/Mendocino with some friends over the weekend. We are getting in a few trips before Jess has to go back to work.

Our new addition!!!

Emmett David Wooden was born on Aug 23rd at 5:41 pm. It was a quick and good labor and delivery. We couldn't have asked for anything better. He is a healthy boy, weighing 7lbs 1oz and 19 1/2 inches long.

It was an amazing experience welcoming Emmett into this world.

We had a fun Sat. morning and afternoon on the lake. I enjoyed watching everyone have fun but will enjoy next summer being able to actually ski again. Cute Sarah would wave at everyone.

The night before, Rachel, Megan, and Becca threw me a baby shower at mom and dad's. It was so much fun! I also had a shower the next day that my work friends threw for me. A weekend full of being spoiled!

They did such a great job on this cake! It was a lemon cake and so yummy with homemade ice cream as well.

This tube was so bouncy and it was hysterical watching Megan being jostled around and doing a back flip out of it.

Vacation in Missouri

Matt and I, Dad, Mom, Jared, and Lucas all flew to Missouri over spring break. We came to visit Meg and Ben in Kirksville and then spent a couple of days visiting church history sites. Poor Ben had to study and go to school most of the time, but we enjoyed the times we did get with him. We had a great time, but man was it cold. Sorry the pictures are out of order.

As we walked along the Trail of Hope in Nauvoo, there were journal exerpts from pioneers as they left Nauvoo for Salt Lake. It is pretty amazing the trials they endured. The trail heads to the Mississippi river.

More of the house remodel

So, here is the finished tile in our bathroom. James wasn't able to make it to help finish the grouting, so I was the lucky helper. I am so glad that I don't have to do that as a living. Ugh! This was fun to hear from Matt after 10 hrs of working on the house: "So my goal is to work until midnight and then get up at 7am." I kind of just stared at him and then replied, "we'll see how long my back holds up." But we did work until 12:30am and everything hurt. I don't think I got up until 8:30. But Matt did a really good job. Way to work hard babe!

Our office is almost complete. Just have to hang blinds and finish organizing and it's done!

We got our new couches! They are so much better than the floor. We were only supposed to get the loveseat delivered on Sat and the couch would be there within 2-4 wks. But we got both on Sat and that made my day!

There is my new dishwasher, which I love and we got our cabinets re-finished. We hired a couple of our friends that do that for a living and they did an awesome job. I love looking at them now and don't have to wash my hands after touching them! Tom and George were very generous, so thanks again!!!

This is our new entertainment center we got from IKEA. I just love that store, even though I get lost pretty easily.

Don't those drapes look awesome. My mom sewed them for me and I love them so much. After we hung them up, I just loved walking into that room. You are the best Mom!

Next, he got to install the new faucet and unclog the tube to the disposal. You don't want to know what was in that thing. I am still trying to rectify the sewer smell from our disposal.

Life has been a little crazy lately and so I haven't been able to post anything for quite awhile. We haven't had internet forever and that killed me. But Matt and I have been truly blessed! We bought our first home in Lincoln. It is really cute, but needs lots of work. We repainted the entire inside and are in the process of putting in all new flooring. That doesn't include all of the little things needing to be done with a new home. So we have been busy. We have had the best help though. So much family and awesome friends willing to share their talents and time. Hours upon hours of wonderful help. Our home is looking so good. What a transformation! Thank you to everyone, we love you so much!!! Also, after finding out that we got our house, we found out that I'm pregnant! After 2.5 yrs of trying to start our little family, our many prayers have been answered. We are so blessed and grateful to our Heavenly Father. I feel nauseous and tired, but I will take it if that means a healthy baby! We love you all and I will continue to post pictures on the progress of our house.

Here is our new niece, Madelyn Johnson. We went up to Reno to see Jason and Leslie and their new addition. They had a little scare and we all felt like we needed to be there to make sure they knew that we loved them and were there if they needed us.

How long have you been married? 3.5 glorious yrs
How long did you date? We dated off and on throughout High School and then about a year after his mission. So probably about 3 yrs.
How old is he? 24 and can't wait for 25 so we can avoid the extra rental car fees.
Who eats more sweets? Probably me. Matt disagrees though. He does like his Reeses.

Who said I love you first? Matt and I just stared at him. I was in shock and still in high school for my defense!
Who is taller? Matt most surely is.
Who can sing the best? Well, were both not bad. He has a really good voice but doesn't believe me. He rocks at the vocals for Rock Band.
Who is smarter? We both have our strengths. I did well in school, but we compliment each other pretty well.
Who does the laundry? Moi, unless it is piled so high and he doesn't have anything to wear. Or if I ask him to do a little he will. But I like to do it so I can know for sure that certain clothes don't get dried. (A little type A coming out).
Who pays the bills?We both do. I tend to take care of most of it and keep track of our budget, but again it is because of my type A control issue. Oh well, it's working.

Who mows the lawn? Our imaginary lawn doesn't need it. It always looks awesome! But Matt most likely will when we have our own place.
Who cooks dinner? Me. I like to cook and try new recipes. Usually my dinners involve more veggies. Matt is a great help in the kitchen though.
Who drives? Matt usually does.
Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? Matt and here are his own words "Me, because usually I am." Gotta love him. I think both of us try hard to see the other's point of view. Sometimes it just takes me a few more minutes.

Who kissed who first? Matt kissed me first. I wanted him to kiss me earlier but he wouldn't because he just finished a basketball game and had 'cotton mouth'. So I had to wait.
Who asked who out first? That would be Matt. He was persistant over many years. I tried to push him away many times, but I knew deep down that I loved him. I finally accepted my true feelings and knew that I had to keep this awesome guy!
Who wears the pants? Matt does, but my opinion does count =)

Matt and I went to a pumpkin carving party that one of my co-workers, Valerie Frey, was putting on. We chose simple designs, but there were some really intricate and cool ones done that night. I haven't carved a pumpkin in probably 3-4 yrs! I did the bat and Matt carved the face. Valerie was a great hostess and we had fun.

So, I cut my hair again. I asked Rachel to cut it a little shorter than last time and I just love it! Thanks Rach, you're the best!

Matt and I have brothers and sister-in-laws that have the most adorable kids. They are all beautiful kids and have the most enjoyable and vast array of personalities! This new post is of little Sarah. She is the happiest little girl and just gorgeous! We are lucky to have such awesome families! Matt and I love spending time with both sides of the family and playing with our nieces and nephews. Mya Johnson (4 yo, almost 5) is a tender hearted, intelligent and beautiful drama queen. Brianna Johnson is a fiesty, energetic, loving and hilarious 3 yo. Andrew Johnson (AJ is 3) is full of energy, curiousity, intensity, and is so loving. Those 3 are sooooo smart!!! Little 1 yo Adam Johnson is so lovable, easygoing, playful, and is always a happy, chunky mama's boy. Sarah (almost 4 mo) is the most beautiful, happy, smiley and wiggly little girl. And the newest addition to the family is adorable Kyra Wooden. She is so cute and has the best hair! I love holding her! She really is funny. Matt has woken her up a couple of times and Kyra gave him the best "you're dead" glare. It was the funniest thing coming from a 1.5 mo old. We truly are blessed with an awesome family. Matt and I have the best brothers, sisters (of course their spouses too!), wonderful parents and the most loving extended family! We are so happy that families can be sealed together for eternity! Hopefully Matt and I will be able to add to our family soon. My body is finally getting healthy and back to normal, so things are looking better! Thanks to our entire families for being so loving, supportive, and just awesome!

Matt and Kyle Lenehan hiked Mt Timp while we were in Utah. They left around midnight and hiked about 4 hrs to the top and waited for the sunrise. I wasn't feeling too well, so I stayed at my Grandparents. That was a good choice because I had an ovarian cyst rupture about 2 am. Those suckers hurt!

Recipes

I'm following me sister's lead and posting some good recipes I come across. So here are some recent ones I've enjoyed.

Italian Beef sandwiches

Leftover hunk of cooked roast beef
2 or 3 cans beef broth
4 chopped garlic cloves
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp celery salt
5 or 6 peppercorns
1 tsp thyme
dashes Tabasco sauce – or spoonfuls for Matt
1 tsp onion salt
½ tsp oregano
Slice beef thinly. Place in cooking pot with other ingredients. Steep beef in this mixture. Do not boil, just let it soak, warm for about 1 hr. Get a loaf or two of good French bread (or whatever you want). Split and place beef and lots of juices on bread. I always experiment w/the spices. Then use the leftover juice for individual servings of au jus to dip the sandwiches in.

Easy three bean salad

1 can kidney beans
1 can black beans
1 can green beans
1 can peas
1 can corn

Drain all cans, mix and add Italian salad dressing to taste. You can pretty much use any type of beans you want. Garbanzo beans taste really good also.

Backpaking to Smith Lake

Matt and I went backpacking to Smith lake this past week. We spent 3 days and 2 nights out in the desolation wilderness. We hiked out of Wright's lake and 3 miles later all up hill, we made it to Smith lake. There was still snow up there and we had that whole area to ourselves. It was awesome!

We had the best view from the top of the peak. We of course had S'mores after dinner over our little burner since we can't have fires.

We camped a little above the lake. We relaxed, read, and went boulder climbing to the top of that mountain. We also fished and had time to catch up since my work schedule is so wierd. We didn't go swimming because there was still snow around the lake. Freezing water!

We had some great views and scenery. Our legs were burning by the time we made it to our camp.

We love going on vacations together and with family! Anything adventurous and outdoors we love to do. So far we have been to Idaho/Yellowstone, So. CA, Tahoe with our families. With just Matt and I, we have been to Mendocino, CA (honeymoon), Petaluma, Ca, and Florida (Ft Lauderdale & Orlando - loved Disneyworld). We try to take small trips and go hiking and backpacking in the summer. But this is our most recent vacation to Montana in March. We had fun in the snow. We went snowshoeing, dog sledding, and snowboarding/skiing.

I am still learning how to use this, so bear with me. But so far our family consists of Matt and I; hopefully a baby in the near future. We have been married for 3 years now. Time flies! I am working full-time at Sutter Roseville as an RN in Labor and Delivery. I'm loving it, even though it has been insanely busy at work! Matt is working part time while going to school. Work has been really flexible for him so that he can concentrate on school. He starts at Sac State in the fall and hopefully will graduate in 2 yrs with his Geography major! That's the plan for now.
